Marlessa Stivala /// TV Programming Analyst /// Writer /// Monica Geller-type with Chandler Bing’s sarcasm.
Living in and loving NYC, I have a lifelong passion for writing, television, film media, language, Tudor history, Old Hollywood, and Greek mythology.
I’m most likely listening to Frank Sinatra while drinking a double shot, low fat, no foam latte.*
Why “SitcomStudies?”- This is the part where I’m supposed to think of a more eloquent way to say “I love sitcoms and I love studying them”, right? Okay. There’s always been something special to me about sitcoms: the familiar characters, the witty dialogue, the relatable plot lines and of course the fact that it’s so easy to become lost in several episodes (Yes, Netflix, of course I want to continue watching Frasier, is there another option?!). While some of my posts will reflect on iconic characters, couples or moments, the true aim of this blog is the relatable plot lines.I cannot begin to name all the countless moments where I’ve watched a sitcom episode and thought to myself: “This reminds me of X which happened to me”, “This reminds me of Y which is an important issue because of Z” or “I agree with Character Q because I feel this way about topic W.” These posts chronicle just a few of those moments.
Disclaimer: I do not own Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond or any other sitcom discussed on this blog. I am a huge fan of all the sitcoms I choose to write about, thus any and all analyses should not be considered criticisms of the shows themselves. These are simply the thoughts and meditations that these shows inspire. Enjoy reading and please comment! 🙂
